The Oil Exploration Company hold a lecture on the source rock model and its importance in oil and gas exploration..

The Exploratory Studies Department of the Geology and Geophysics Division held a lecture on Thu. 7/3/2024 at Mohamed Fawzi Hall in the company’s headquarters entitled “Source rock model and classification, and the impact of its sedimentary environment on the formation of oil and gas”.

The lecture was given by the retired expert, Dr. Saad Zayer, and attended by the Assistant Director General for Technical Affairs, Mr. Abbas M. Ali, the manager of the Exploratory Research and Laboratories Department, and a group of specialists in the field of laboratories, including geologists and geophysicists working in the Geology and Geophysics Division and the Exploratory Research and Laboratories Department.

At the end of the lecture, emphasis was placed on developing a work program to explore the depths of source rocks in wells and rock detectors in Iraq in order to extract their secrets and achieve the maximum benefit from the country's hydrocarbon resources.

It is worth noting that source rocks represent an essential part in the operations of extracting hydrocarbon resources, as they contain organic materials that are transformed by heat and pressure into these important natural resources. For better understanding of how oil and gas are formed and from where they Emitting, studying and classifying these rocks are considered one of the basics of  work, Therefore, such lectures and seminars are organized to raise awareness of the importance of this topic and exchange knowledge and experiences in this field.
