The Oil Exploration Company Achieves a New National Achivement in Seismic Survey in Anbar Governorate
With the support and follow-up of senior management, represented by the OEC Director General, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, and the efforts of its staff, the First Seismic Crew, one of the formations within the Field Operations Division of Oil Exploration Company, achieved a significant national achievement in implementing the 2D seismic survey program north of Fallujah in Anbar Governorate, with national expertise and efforts.
Despite the field challenges that faced the staff of the crew during implementing of the project, including the agricultural nature of the area and the numerous rivers and streams obstructing the work routes, which lead to dividing the survey area into three parts to ensure smooth execution and accurate results, the staff of the crew were able to continue working with a high spirit of determination and dedication.
These efforts resulted in a completion rate of 98.12% of the total program area (1809.65 km/length), with (1775.550 km/length) of surveyed area and (36,193) power points on 25/2/2026, the work began on it on 23/5/2025 in an achievement that reflects the efficiency and experience of the national staff and their ability to face field challenges and achieve the goals of important exploration projects that contribute to supporting the oil and gas sector in Iraq.
The Director General of Oil Exploration Company, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, affirmed that the completion of the seismic survey program north of Fallujah represents a significant step in supporting national efforts aimed to develop the oil and gas sector and enhancing exploration operations in Iraq.
He added that the program was implemented for the benefit of MDOC as part of the Ministry of Oil's plans to expand the geological and geophysical database, which contributes to supporting exploration studies and identifying promising oil and gas structures. He emphasized the company's continued commitment to implementing seismic survey projects in various regions of Iraq in support of the national economy.
In closing, he commended the significant efforts made by the field personnel and expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of local and security parties, which contributed in success this program and the achievement of its objectives.
