The Exploration Research and Laboratories Department is one of the main departments and important pillars of Oil Exploration Company. It is responsible for providing the most accurate technical results and information by conducting various geochemical and petrophysical tests and analyses, as well as petrographic descriptions of cores, and facies and environmental descriptions of rock segments extracted from exploration well cores and prepared within the department.
The department is also developing 1D, 2D & 3D models for the Total Petroleum System (TPS) using (PetroMod) software for volumetric calculations of hydrocarbon resources using a contemporary and unconventional method, enhancing the accuracy of subsurface assessments.
The department provides upstream companies, as well as the companies involved in the 5th & 6th licensing rounds, with all relevant analyses and tests. It also presents specialized studies include stratigraphy, geochemistry, sedimentology, petrophysics, and technical assessments, as detailed in the approved and attached tables provided to the beneficiaries.
Current Activities of the Department:
The department is currently implementing a series of agreements with foreign companies operating within the 5th & 6th licensing rounds and petroleum contracts. These agreements aim to provide them with specialized tests, analyses, and studies that fall within the department's specialization, this facilitates the work of these companies and achieves significant financial revenues for our company in foreign currency at the same time.
The department's activities also include providing services for Iraqi upstream oil companies, in addition to supporting graduate students of Iraqi universities by providing the required studies and technical data for scientific research.
The Company's Management seeks to equip the department with important devices of the latest international versions to meet the scope of the 17025 standard and keep pace with the global updates in the department's specializations.
