The Director General of Oil Exploration Company Receives the Director General of Chinese CNOOC Company

The Director General of Oil Exploration Company, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, received at his office on Tue. 30/12/2025 the Director General of Chinese CNOOC Company, Mr. Deng Yung, in the presence of the manager of Field Operations Division.

During the meeting, they discussed the requirements and fundamentals of implementing the work program in Block (7) for the benefit of MDOC, which was awarded to the Chinese CNOOC Company as part of the fifth and sixth licensing rounds.

The meeting also addressed the practical steps for commencing exploration activities in Block (7).

It was agreed that a joint survey team from the Field Operations Division and CNOOC Company would conduct the determine priorities to work in Block (7).

 The Block (7) is considered a promising block that contain significant hydrocarbon reserves. Located between al- Najaf,  Diwaniyah and Babylon governorates, it enhances the potential for new discoveries that will contribute to supporting the national energy sector.

This cooperation is an important step within Iraq’s efforts to increase opportunities for new oil and gas exploration, which will contribute to increasing production and supporting the national economy.
