The Oil Exploration Company Holds its Annual Symposium to Review 2025 Achievements
Under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayyan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, and in the presence of the Director General of the Oil Exploration Company, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, the Oil Exploration Company held at Mohammed Fawzi Hall from 15-16/2/2026 its annual symposium to review the achievements made during 2025 compared to 2024, under the slogan: (Through work we achieve accomplishments… and through evaluation we shape the future).
The Planning Division prepared and organized the symposium, which began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq and the martyrs of duty at the North Refineries Company. The national anthem was then played, in an atmosphere that embodied the spirit of belonging and national responsibility. The program also included a documentary film about the activities of the company's various divisions and departments, produced under the supervision of the Director General and implemented by the Media and Governmental Communication Section. The film highlighted the most significant achievements and programs implemented during the past year.
The Director General, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, delivered a speech in which he stated: “This symposium represents a responsible evaluation and review platform. Its aim is not only to highlight successes but also to courageously and transparently address any shortcomings or obstacles that may have led to delays in completing certain projects. This is essential for accurately diagnosing the root causes, addressing them with a high degree of professionalism, and developing practical solutions to overcome them, transforming challenges into opportunities for development and improvement of institutional performance.
The company's management believes that the strength of an institution lies in its capacity for honest evaluation, teamwork, and enhancing a culture of achievement and positive accountability. This ensures the sustainability of success and solidifies the company's position as a key contributor to the oil sector and achieving the Ministry of Oil's strategic objectives.

The first day highlighted the key activities of the various divisions and departments, beginning with the Planning and Field Operations Divisions and the seismic survey programs implemented by the seismic crews. The presentations also reviewed the progress achieved in seismic surveys and geological exploration, as well as the advancements in adopting the latest technologies to support exploration operations. This was followed by presentations from the Geology and Geophysics Division and the Processing and Information Technology Division.
The second day included a review of the activities of the various departments and head section, including the Human Resources Department, the Materials and Procurement Department, the Exploration Research and Laboratories Department, the Engineering Department, and the Finance Department, along with other supporting departments. This reflects the integrated institutional efforts in supporting the exploration process.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the company's Director General emphasized that the achievements would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the engineering, technical, and administrative staff across all work sites. He commended the national talent that played a fundamental role in strengthening the company's position, supporting the national economy, and securing future oil and gas needs.
The symposium also featured in-depth professional discussions addressing key field and technical challenges, along with the presentation of developmental visions aimed to enhancing performance efficiency and strengthening exploration operations. Emphasis was placed on the importance of integrated roles across all departments, fostering a unified team spirit to ensure the achievement of the company's strategic objectives.
The symposium concluded with a reaffirmation of the Oil Exploration Company's commitment to adhering to the highest standards of quality and occupational safety, and to continuing its approach of development and modernization, in line with the Ministry of Oil's vision of maximizing national wealth and solidifying the legacy of progress and contribution in the field of exploration.
In a statement to the manager of the Media and Governmental Communication Section, the Director General explained that this symposium is an annual tradition through which the company's various departments present their most significant achievements with complete transparency and clarity, comparing them to the accomplishments of the previous year. this tradition reflects two important aspects: first, that the work should be presented without embellishment, clearly outlining both successes and failures compared to the previous year; and second, that it reinforces the principle of integrated work and ensures the sustainability of this approach annually, thereby enhancing transparency and openness between senior management and the various departments and divisions.
He explained that, based on the presentation, a clear and tangible improvement was evident between the achievements of 2024 and those of 2025. Despite the company's limited financial resources, it was able—by relying on contracts with foreign companies—to complete a higher percentage of the work than the previous year.
In conclusion, he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all company employees and to the organizers of the symposium, commending their efforts in making this annual corporate event a success.
