The Oil Exploration Company Completes 3D Seismic Survey in Exploration Block 9 in Basra Governorate

Under the patronage of the Minister of Oil, Engineer Basim Mohammed Khudhair Al-Abadi, and the supervision of the Deputy of the Ministry of Oil for Upstream Affairs, Engineer Naseer Aziz Jabbar, with the following-up of the Director General of the Oil Exploration Company, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, The staff of the Sixth Seismic Crew, one of the formations of the Field Operations Division at the Oil Exploration Company, completed the implementation of the 3D seismic survey program within Exploration Block 9 in Basra Governorate for Kuwait Energy, achieved a 100% completion rate of the total program area of ​​380.49 km².

The company commenced operations of the program on 27/12/2025 and was able to complete it fully by the continuous efforts of its technical, engineering, and administrative staff, adherence to the approved plans and schedules, and the application of the latest technologies in 3D seismic surveying.

The completion of this project comes within the Oil Exploration Company’s keenness to provide high-precision geological and seismic data that contribute to supporting exploration and development operations for oil fields, and enhance opportunities for investing in hydrocarbon wealth, in line with the Ministry of Oil’s directions in developing the oil sector and improving the performance of exploration projects.
