Exploration Research and Laboratories Department Commences its Works Under 5 and 6 Licensing Rounds

The Oil Exploration Company / Exploration Research and Laboratories Department signed on 1/9/2025 a contract with KAR-OG Dima. The agreement covers conducting laboratory tests on the rock core of (Dima-1) well in Maysan Governorate.

 Following approval from the company's senior management, the initial contract was signed between the two parties, starting the immediate commencement of laboratory work. This project marks the first undertaking by the Exploration Research and Laboratories Department within the Licensing Rounds 5 and 6, reflecting the company's leading role in supporting technical and research operations and developing national capabilities in geological and laboratory studies.

In a statement, the Director General of the Oil Exploration Company, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, affirmed that the Exploration Research and Laboratories Department possesses advanced technical and human resources, enabling it to conduct laboratory testing and analysis according to the highest international standards. He emphasized that laboratories are fundamental pillars in supporting oil exploration and development projects.

He added, “We are working to enhance cooperation with Iraqi universities and academic institutions by preparing the laboratories to postgraduate students for practical training and developing their research skills, which contributes to preparing qualified national staff that contribute to achieving the goals of the Iraqi oil sector.”
